Week Three 2019 – Inspiration: Black and White

Our inspiration this week is to simply take an amazing Black and White photograph of any subject we want.

Every photograph that you can think of, has the potential to be black and white. It depends on your imagination and a few key skills. Every area of photography, from landscape to portraiture, have their own set of requirements when it comes to B&W photography.

See how we did, enjoy:

Some macro black and white.

Week Two 2019 – Composition: Rule of Thirds Motion

We are in week two 2019, time sure is flying.

Rule of thirds – The guideline proposes that an image should be imagined as divided into nine equal parts by two equally spaced horizontal lines and two equally spaced vertical lines, and that important compositional elements should be placed along these lines or their intersections.Proponents of the technique claim that aligning a subject with these points creates more tension, energy and interest in the composition than simply centering the subject. Adding to this motion has to be shown in the composition.See how we did.

Natural light in photography

Natural light is light that comes from the sun. It is contrasted with artificial light, which comes from light bulbs, fires and other man-made features.

Natural light to our opinion is the best to use in photography where possible.

However this kind of light is very unforgiving especially without photography accessories like speed light, reflectors and the rest.

This is how we dealt with, when natural light becomes harsh shadows. #randomshoot

One way is by looking for shadows like trees.

By positioning model in areas of less shadows, by knowing the direction of light.

Focus on the background as well.

Posture is always important.

When the sun rises its a new opportunity, a new beginning and sometimes we are there with our equipments.

A silhouette is the image of a person, animal, object or scene represented as a solid shape of a single color, usually black, with its edges matching the outline of the subject.

Composition – Lines in Photography

There are different types of line in photography used in composition of a photograph.

These are:

Horizontal lines: can be used as a dividing point in an image and/or show a sense of stability

Vertical lines: can emphasize height, power or strength

Diagonal lines: can invoke depth or direct attention of the viewer to a certain subject.

Converging lines: can invoke distance or point of interest.

Our experiment this week was converging lines and our subject abandoned railway see how we did.
